Mrs. Vandercook

June 06, 2008

Week of June 9, 2008

Dear Parents,

With a heavy sigh, this is our last Friday letter . As we get ready to send your child off to summer vacation, please know that it has been an absolute pleasure to work with your child and watch him or her blossom. We will deeply miss all of their smiles, hugs, and cheerful voices that have filled our classroom for ten months. We pray for a restful, blessed summer for each one of you.

Congratulations to Alexis Galvez for passing the four minute test of 100 multiplication facts! Jack Willis passed the three minute test of 100 multiplication facts and Kiara passed the two minute test of 100 multiplication facts! Super job, students!

Transitioning to fourth grade is a big jump for most third graders. The curriculum is more demanding and schedules often get busier with choir, band, and other school activities. Please keep your child reading and reviewing math skills this summer! It is important that the academic skills gained this year are not forgotten. Also, 4th grade assignments will be completed in cursive so please continue to have your child practice his or her cursive writing.

Have a wonderful weekend! God Bless.

Mrs. Vandercook .

Week of June 2, 2008

Dear Parents,

We hope your family had a good Memorial Day! Last Friday, we had a special presentation by Coach Kays in our classroom. Coach Kays is a retired Army Major who served in the Vietnam War. Our students were very interested in the details of his military service and asked many thoughtful questions. We are thankful to servicemen like Coach Kays who contributed to our country’s freedom and liberties.

Next Friday, School Family will be in the gym at 8:45am. After School Family, students will go to their classrooms for their awards. We hope you can join us. If you have more than one classroom awards ceremony to attend, I’m asking if you can go to your other child’s classroom first. I will be briefly attending my two daughter’s classrooms right after School Family before I start our third grade awards ceremony in our classroom. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.

Have a great weekend! God Bless.

Mrs. Vandercook .

Dear Parents,

Our remaining school days are rapidly ticking away! We are still going strong and hope to continue a good academic focus in the classroom. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me besides still waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies,
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
