Dear Parents and Students,
June is here and we are counting down the days until summer. The children are all very excited for the end of the year activities.
We have been working hard in all subjects each day. We are busily getting ready for 5th grade. We are covering some 5th grade math concepts in preparation. We are moving quickly in this area as it is an introduction. There may be a test to check for understanding but it will be used for that reason only (not towards their grade).
The children have been requesting all year to celebrate their “Summer Birthdays” with the class. Let’s do that on Wednesday, June 12th. Celebrating summer birthdays are Kevin, Jade, Taylor, Alex, and Joshua. If you would like to bring something in to share with the class just let me know. We can do lunch and dessert.
God bless you,
Mrs. Hoops

Dear Parents and Students,
Wow, one more week in May then June will be here. Summer is calling and it has been difficult to keep attentions focused. Please make sure that school is still the number one priority for our students these last few weeks. I know everyone is busy with sports and outside activities but we have much to do and it is so important that I don’t loose them. We are rapidly preparing for 5th grade in all subjects. I have a few end of the year fun hands on activities that I would love to do with the class, but our class work must be completed first. I am so excited to finish up the year as we prepare for 5th grade. It has been a wonderful journey and I will miss each and every one of these children.
Thank you for sending in all the supplies to decorate our “State of California” Cookies. The students used chocolate chips for the Mountain Region, Green sour tape for the Central Valley, Crushed Oreos for the Desert, and sprinkles for the Coastal Region. We used M & M’s to mark the 21 missions, a big red star for Sacramento, and a Swedish fish to mark where “WE” are on the map. We all enjoyed this activity and I am hoping the cookies make it home to you before they get eaten. Thank you for your support with this cooking activity.
Next Tuesday will be Field Day for fourth grade. The students have been divided into four teams and should wear either a blue or red school polo shirt. Please remember to apply sunscreen before school on Tuesday and bring a water bottle. Field Day is from 9:30 – 11:00a.m. You are invited to help and follow your child’s team through their rotations. If you are coming, please remember to sign in at the office and report downstairs in the gym.
“Crunch Time” Extra Credit Language and Math packets are coming home in Friday Folders today. Here’s your chance to earn extra credit points and practice some important skills. Packets are due May 30th. Please see letter attached to packet.
God bless you,

Dear Parents and Students,
We have started memorizing our next required memory verse Psalm 51:10-12 in class. They have been writing the verse each day and have been given time to practice it aloud together and individually. The students are to write the verse with their spelling test each Thursday in May. They wrote verse 51:10 on Thursday, 5/15, verse 51:11 on Thursday, 5/22, and verse 51:12 on Thursday, 5/29. On May 30th they will recite the entire three verses to me. Please encourage them to practice saying the verse at home. The other verse found in their spelling book may be written on the spelling test for extra credit, but not required.
We are going to be making COOKIE maps of our state! We will be making “Relief Cookies” modeling the topography of California. This is a fun culminating hands-on activity that the students will begin at HOME. The project is fully explained and directions given on the notes attached to the hard copy of this letter (see Friday Folders). We will be decorating our state cookies on Friday, May 23rd. The attached notes also let you know what food items your child should bring in to class on Thursday, May 22nd.
Please get a lot of rest and vitamin C to help fight off this round of cold/flu that has hit our classroom. We have at least half the class sneezing, coughing, runny noses, headaches, and fever. Remember to be free from a fever for 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you! A special thank you to Nancy Stressling for providing us with Kleenex and hand sanitizer in our time of need. She saved the day! Toni Ferrel also brought in Kleenex, thank you for taking care of us.
God bless,
Mrs. Hoops
